After almost ten years of designing my label, I am thrilled to share the opening of my second store with Rip+Tan! My new store is at The Brentwood Country Mart—my favorite destination on the West Side—and our doors have been unlocked since the end of March. I wanted to share images of the store, some tips about how I designed it, and pictures from the opening dinner. This week I’ll tell you about the dinner, and next week will be about the design process and finished product.
In the beginning of April, I hosted cocktails in the store followed by an intimate dinner party at The Farm Shop. It was really beautiful and fun and the food was delicious! We took over The Farm Shop and they created a yummy family style menu which included warm asparagus in a vinaigrette, grass-fed flat-iron steak and poached Scottish salmon. In addition, Rori at Paper Monkey Press created beautiful letter pressed menus for the night on natural card stock. Paper Monkey Press is a great and affordable resource for invitations, cards and stationary.
For flowers, Botany, also located at the Country Mart, put together beautiful arrangements of rosemary, maiden hair fern, hyacinth, green hydrangeas and parrot tulips. Each arrangement was in a unique vase and were arranged in clusters on great burlap runners down the center of each table. We mixed in the Farm Shop’s Atwater hurricanes and small votives.
During dinner, my best friend Nicole Simone sang a couple of songs, which were amazing. She is sultry and amazing as a performer, and when you listen to her you feel a little like you are back in 1920's France.
I wanted to share a couple of my favorite looks from the dinner. Jessica Biel looked stunning in our Cap Sleeve Band Gown from the spring collection. Nicole Simone was in the same silhouette but in pool we made exclusively for Shopbop. Shiva Rose looked gorgeous in our Scoop Tank and Slit Panel Skirt and Minka Kelly was perfect in our Pleated Pant and matching silk T-Shirt. My sisters also looked super chic in almond - Maggie wore our Blocked Blazer and Saree wore our Cutout Gown. I wore my favorite sample from this coming fall - the Short Sleeve Top and Godet Skirt.
The dinner was really fun and the atmosphere was perfect - it was a lovely way to kick off the store. Don’t forget to check in next week for more about my newest location! XXJKE
