Jenni with her husband Richard, daughter Ripley and son Tanner
Jenni Kayne is an American fashion designer and just as importantly, a young mother to Ripley and Tanner.
Jenni launched her line in 2003, when she was just nineteen. She quickly established her signature look: a refined, subtle interpretation of classic American sportswear that draws on her California upbringing and uncomplicated design sensibility. “Super-chic, easy to wear clothes,” she says of her designs. “That’s what I do. Nothing tricky, nothing precious, just good clothes that work for you.”
That same sensibility has carried over into Jenni’s experience being a parent and homemaker. She loves all things beautiful and takes pleasure in the smallest details. Jenni has mined the internet and books for advice on being the best and chicest mom that she can be, and more importantly, on making sure she is raising her kids well. She looks for stories and objects that symbolize tradition and quality. After having spent so much time nosing around the world of fashion, home, design, travel, cooking and parenting, Jenni wants to share her treasure-trove of information on Rip+Tan.
Rip+Tan is named after Kayne’s daughter Ripley Jewel and son Tanner and extends her design philosophy into the rest of life, showcasing beautiful and stylish things that, like her kids, will only get better with age.
Jenni lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Richard Ehrlich, Ripley, Tanner, and their white French Bulldog Yoko.
